Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, before you have to ask.

Everything people usually want to know about how coaching works, what it costs, what is confidential and when I will tell you to see someone else instead.

Coaching, generally

Coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused process that helps you unlock your potential, develop new skills and reach outcomes you care about. We work from where you are now towards where you want to be, using structured questions, self-reflection and practised behaviour change.

Therapy and clinical counselling frequently work backwards into your history and can treat diagnosable mental health conditions. I am a coach, not a clinician. If what you are carrying needs a psychiatrist or a licensed clinical psychologist, I will say so early and help you find the right person — that referral is part of the service, not a failure of it.

Couples and individuals navigating marriage, separation, in-laws, parenting and family estrangement. Senior leaders, founders and newly-promoted executives. Teams and manager cohorts. And organisations with several generations under one roof who want them collaborating rather than misreading each other. Clients are based globally — India, South-East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia), Europe, the United States and Australia — and thousands of people have been coached across individual, couples, group and corporate work.

I am an ICF Certified Coach, a Mars-Venus Relationship Coach trained in Dr John Gray’s framework, a Licensed Emotional Intelligence Coach, a Certified NLP Practitioner and a certified Organisation Development Coach. Before coaching I spent over twenty years in corporate leadership roles, which is where a good deal of my working understanding of organisations comes from.

I am based in Hyderabad, India. Sessions run face to face here, or online over Google Meet, Zoom or WhatsApp. A significant share of my practice is international and entirely online.

English, Hindi and Punjabi. Corporate workshops can run in English, Hindi or a mix, which matters for frontline and plant populations.

Sessions, fees & logistics

Individual sessions are typically 60 minutes; couples sessions run 75 to 90 minutes. Most clients meet fortnightly. During an acute phase we may move to weekly, and towards the end of an engagement sessions usually spread out to monthly.

There is no fixed timeline, and anyone who quotes you one before hearing your situation is guessing. As a guide: individual engagements often settle around 8 to 12 sessions, couples around 10 to 16, and executive coaching around 12 across six months. We agree an initial block and review it honestly.

Before that there is a free 30-minute discovery call. In the first paid session we go wide: what is actually going on, what you have already tried, what you want to be different, and what has been getting in the way. For couples I usually speak to each partner individually first.

Yes, and it is where most of the change happens. Assignments are deliberately small and specific — a conversation to have, a pattern to notice, a behaviour to test once. Insight that is never practised evaporates within a fortnight.

Fees depend on the type of engagement, the format and its duration, and corporate work is scoped and quoted separately. I will give you a clear figure on the discovery call before you commit to anything. If cost is a genuine barrier, say so on the call — I would rather have that conversation than lose someone who needs the work.

Please give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule and we will find another slot at no cost. Sessions cancelled inside 24 hours or missed without notice are chargeable, because that time was held for you and cannot be re-let.

Yes, completely. Nothing said in a session leaves the room. In corporate engagements, confidentiality is contractually explicit: sponsors receive progress against agreed goals, and never content. The only limits are the standard ones — a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or a legal requirement.

Couples & relationships

Yes. A relationship is a system, and systems respond when one part changes. A great deal can shift when one person stops running their half of the loop. It is not equivalent to both of you working on it, and I will be straight with you about that, but it is far from pointless.

No, and the structure of the sessions is designed to make that visible. Neither partner can dominate and neither can disappear. Clients frequently tell me afterwards that the reason they both kept coming was that neither could accuse me of being the other one's coach.

No. What I will do is make sure that whatever you decide, you decide it clearly rather than in the middle of the worst version of the argument. Some couples finish closer than they have been in years. Some finish clear that separating is the kinder thing. Both are legitimate.

Yes, and across faiths and family structures. The work concerns how two people relate, not the shape the relationship is supposed to take.

Coaching is not the right instrument where there is active physical, sexual or coercive abuse, and couples work in that situation can be actively unsafe. If that is your situation, please speak to a specialist service rather than a coach.

In India you can reach the National Commission for Women helpline on 7827 170 170, and Tele-MANAS on 14416 for free mental health support, 24 hours a day.

Corporate & organisations

It starts with a conversation about the business problem rather than the training request — those are frequently different things. Then a discovery phase, a designed proposal with objectives and measures, delivery, and a reinforcement session with a written themes report.

Patterns and recommendations, never attributions. If a finding could only have come from one person, it does not appear in that form. That standard is what makes people willing to be honest with me in the first place.

Yes, in person across India and online for distributed teams. Online delivery is redesigned for the medium rather than being a room session pointed at a camera.

Yes — sessions on relationships, marriage, parenting and emotional wellbeing for employee programmes and family days. Organisations often underestimate how much of workplace performance is being decided at home.

Booking & availability

Use the booking form on the contact page, email coachkawalarora@gmail.com, or send a WhatsApp message to +91 90019 91169. Every engagement begins with a free 30-minute discovery call, usually scheduled within a week.

Yes. Individual and couples coaching slots are generally available within one to two weeks. Corporate engagements and speaking dates are typically booked four to eight weeks ahead.

Working across both sides of the same person — the relationships at home and the relationships at work. Very few coaches in India practise across relationship coaching, marriage work and executive coaching, and that combination is the distinctive feature of the practice.
