Many clients these days complaint about they facing mid-life crisis.
They relate it with feeling sad, thinking about past, bored or void, nostalgic and above all feeling loss of drive.
The above all are symptoms but underlying issue is that we feel “IRRELEVANT” to the world and people around us. This usually happens when life gets stagnant means your life is running on auto-mode with basic needs of house, car, kids education and job/work fulfilled.
You feel there is nothing else left to accomplish, and no milestones to achieve and hence no drive to push you. You can’t relate yourself to any goal, and hence feel irrelevant. In a modern terms we call it Mid-life crisis. This usually happens in the 40-50 age group people but these days people are getting it 25-35 age group as well and it’s called Quarter-life crisis.
To come out of it, You need to take some actions such as –
- Speak with someone about it. Thinking alone about it whole time will affect you badly. If you are afraid you will be judged, speak to a professional.
- Acknowledge your previous accomplishments and feel proud about your journey
- Set some new goals for yourself relevant to your changed roles at this point of life
- Set some actions towards those goals
- Take first step towards your goal and start feeling relevant again
Remember, It’s not a crisis, it’s just a gap between your accomplished goals and “Yet to be set goals”.
